How Allier Gruppen streamlined operations across nine companies

Published on

Allier Gruppen switched to Telia two years ago after many years with the same mobile provider. For a group of nine companies that coordinate work daily, the switchboard service Telia Smart Connect was decisive.

Bergen-based Allier Gruppen consists of nine companies in the construction industry. Together they are one of Western Norway’s largest general contractors with a base in technical trades.

Before switching to Telia, Allier Gruppen had been loyal customers of another telecom provider for many years. However, they lacked a good technical solution for collaborating and coordinating across the companies in the group. Strong growth had made this collaboration increasingly important.

Connecting nine companies through one switchboard

They found the solution in Telia Smart Connect. The switchboard gives Allier Gruppen one place to manage communication across the group, so colleagues easily can see each other’s availability and customers reach the right person without hassle.

“The companies in Allier Gruppen collaborate a great deal with each other and coordinate jobs. That is why we need simple solutions that let us keep track of each other’s calendars and transfer calls to the right person. We can do that with Telia Smart Connect.”

That is music to the ears of Thomas Lundh, Product Manager for Telia Smart Connect.

“What Allier Gruppen highlights here is the whole idea behind Telia Smart Connect: making it easy to communicate with and between both employees and customers,” he says, adding:

“Telia Smart Connect is intuitive to use. It requires next to no training and is just as easy on the PC as from the mobile app. We work continuously to make the service even better, based on input and requests from our customers.”

Integrated with the company’s systems

Through Telia’s programming interface (API), Allier Gruppen has also integrated the Smart Connect solution with its own systems. This simplifies and automates the onboarding process for new employees.

“Here, for example, we send out information about usernames and passwords for our systems,” says Olsen at Allier.

Good coverage is very important for the tradespeople at Allier Gruppen, who often work in remote locations. With Telia as their mobile provider, employees have noticed that coverage has improved.

The services mattered most

Like most companies, Allier Gruppen paid attention to price when choosing a mobile provider. However, that was not what decided their choice of Telia.

“The price we got from Telia was good, but the services were absolutely decisive. With the previous provider, the services were unstable, and you had to pay extra for them. With Telia, the services work very well and they are included in the subscription.”

What do employees think of Telia’s services?

“They say they appreciate the Telia Smart Connect app. You can find phone numbers quickly and connect with people,” says Olsen.

Installed base stations at the office

Good coverage is very important for the tradespeople at Allier Gruppen, who often work in remote locations. As Norway’s largest challenger, Telia has worked hard on mobile coverage for several years. In December it became clear that Telia was the first to launch a nationwide 5G network. Bertelsen at AOG says they have noticed Telia’s investment in coverage.

“A great deal has happened. The rollout has meant that Telia’s coverage has kept getting better and better. Now we hear nothing from our employees about weak coverage,” says Bertelsen.

Allier Gruppen’s head office had always been a tricky spot for coverage. Telia solved this by installing two base stations in the building.

“Telia has been very helpful with coverage at the office. We really have nothing to complain about when it comes to our communication with Telia,” says Bertelsen.

A painless transition

Before switching providers, Allier Gruppen was hesitant. They feared a long and costly switching process.

“I am old enough to have been through a switch like this before, many years ago. That was a much heavier process that required a lot of internal resources to carry out. That is why it took a long time to convince us that switching to Telia would go well.”

Telia explained exactly how the switching process would unfold and presented estimates of what resources a switch would require. This turned out to be accurate.

“Everyone received SIM cards in advance and was told when their subscription would be ported. Telia showed up with significant resources to make the transition painless and to transfer things like eSIM,” says Bertelsen at AOG.

“Telia kept what they promised. Phones and tablets with regular SIM cards were transferred first. Mobile broadband, devices with eSIM, and all IoT devices followed in a second batch. Phones, watches, tablets and other IoT devices were all transferred within a single day.”
